1940’s Beauty Tips

The authentic appearance for beauty and makeup style  in the 1940’s was allure !
An adorable mouth and arresting eyebrows, moving away from the pencil thin art deco look of the 1930’s.
Eye makeup coverage was kept to the minimum with little shadow.

Mascara was the capital accessory!
Topped off with long flowing locks !

The star names in the makeup industry were Max Factor, Elizabeth Arden and Helena Rubinstein.

1940’s Makeup – Foundation

Try a darker accent to your accustomed colour.
But if you’re attempting to get the 1940’s look,try using
your usual foundation and get a smooth creamy base to start with.

Powder
Lighter than light rose or pinkish tinted colours work best !

Rouge
Red with pink undertones,
Pink with fuchsia undertones .
Start applying to the top of the cheekbone and brush gently towards the temples.
This creates a trangle effect !

1940’s  Eye makeup Styles
Pluck those eyebrows to give a pronounced arch!
Use matte shadow in a colors near to your own and complete
with some vaseline for a shimmering Hollywood sheen.
Shape  the arch using a pencilto a sharp point

Always use a soft cream base on the eyelids [ Try MAC makeup to recreate the
near genuine 1940’s look ].
Shadow the socket but but avoid the browbone.
Complete with black or dark brown liquid eyeliner on the upper lids ,and sweep up in an arch for that
glamourous touch  and then loads of black mascara for the top lashes..
