A few simple pointers for all you 1940s glamour girls.

1. Never let your  lips appear painted, irregular or badly defined.

2. Don’t moisten the lips before the applying lip rouge, as this makes the rouge roll ,giving it a caked appearance.

3. Always make-up the upper lip to begin with. Then gently though firmly close your mouth; roll the upper lip over the lower which imprints a correct outline on your lower lip.

4.Apply lip rouge freely and remove any excess by blotting with a cleansing tissue. Do this repeatedly until the tissue no longer takes an impression.

5.Never affect a small mouth, a thin lip line or a cupid bow. If your lips are too full, apply a smaller mouth. If your lips are of normal size and in correct proportion to the rest of the face, carry lipstick well into the corners of the mouth and always remember  to keep the corners turned up slightly to affect a smiling  countenance.

6. If you are blonde or fair – never use dark lipsticks – it affects a tarty look which is unbecoming. Choose a light carmine, cream or pink.

That’s all !
